Digital Audio Production

" I took the Digital Audio Production course at Pixel Blue in 2011. I have nothing bad to say about the course or the school. I had a great time there, the staff helped me out any way possible and the instructors were extremely knowledgeable. The course is 5 months long full time, which equals the same hours as a 2-year course at other colleges. This is obviously a very good thing if you want to get your career started quickly. There's no down time; everything is hands on. The instructor's knowledge is worth the price of tuition alone. 24-hour access to your computer and the building makes it that much better. The thing I took away from the school the most was that there's so many different career options that you have with the knowledge you're given. There's a lot of work to be done but if you put in the effort, the results speak for themselves. If you're driven to do anything in the audio field, I can't recommend Pixel Blue or the Digital Audio Production course enough. I'm currently running my own studio full time here in Edmonton. "

" If you're looking for a fast paced, hands-on environment Pixel Blue is your school. The teachers are committed, interested, supportive, and all employed in their field. With small class size you will work closely with your instructor, as well as individually and in teams.  You will receive basic and advanced training from a professional, not only in your field of study, but overviews in marketing yourself, networking, and job preparation. An intensive commitment in both time and effort but if you want to learn this is the best place in the city to do it. Five stars isn't enough. "

3D Animation & Modeling

" The time I spent attending Pixel Blue's 3D Animation Program was, and continues to be, very rewarding. After meeting with the school faculty I decided to make the move from Saskatchewan and attend the course, as nothing in my home province seemed close in professionalism and knowledge. The course taught me everything I needed to know to be a success in this competitive industry, and although it was short it taught everyone how to manage their time properly, which is highly important in this field. The instructor was very knowledgeable and was always available to the students. To this very day I am still in contact with him and he is still willing to help and give me suggestions. And this also goes for my fellow students, I still stay in contact with most of them and it is great to have this network and knowledge base to draw from. Which brings me to another point. Animation is an ever-changing industry, which involves heavy commitment. Pixel Blue will give you the tools you need to hit the ground running but it will be up to you to put in the effort and continue learning. I see complaints from many different students who blame their educational institute if they do not get employment, but this is really up to THEM. The knowledge is there for you to learn but applying it will be up to you. If you are considering attending Pixel Blue and are serious about getting a career in the animation industry I can 100% recommend doing so. Even though I graduated some time ago the school has always been there for me with career/networking tips. Having access to their knowledge even after graduating has been a huge help to me along the way and I very much appreciate it. I have been steadily employed ever since graduating and have worked for a few different studios including: Dynamic Vision, Studio Y Creations and EA Sports in Vancouver. "

" I took the Graphic Design and 2D Character Animation courses. Both great! The school has a nice creative atmosphere. "

2D Character Animation

" I cannot speak highly enough about this school. I took 2D animation with Kevin, and walked away with an education that has allowed me to be extremely successful in the field I am pursuing work in. If a hands-on education with an instructor who cares is what you are looking for, Pixel Blue is a wonderful choice. "

" Going to Pixel Blue College had to be one of the best decisions I have made. They helped me find a great job at Stantec Engineering, taught me different skills and techniques with Maya, Photoshop, and ZBrush, and were consistently there for us when we needed help. All in all this school were the building blocks for my career and my future. "

Digital Audio Production

" My life had come to a point where my IT career did not offer me a single reason to continue a lackluster path into technology support. On a whim I decided to look at what audio technology could do to help me recapture my passion - music. I took the Digital Audio Production class from March 2011 until August 2011 and it was one of the best education experiences of my life. I found my instructor, Umesh, to be far beyond knowledgeable and he was approachable just like Curtis and the rest of the staff at Pixel Blue. From the 1st day I knew I had a lot to learn and the education started right then and there and it kept coming. The class was small, only open to 10 students, and I felt overwhelmed by the end of the 1st week, each day was about a weeks worth of material. It never let up the entire 5 months of instruction, which was ideal for my learning style. I get bored quickly if I am not challenged. Well I never had a chance to be bored with the material, my classmates or my instructor. He always had a plan, which was occasionally thrown out the window. Umesh was always clear about what was expected and I found a reason to be competitive when I had never been so most of my adult life. Between ear training drills, mixing competitions and music production I soon realized that this was an awesome place to master some savvy audio skills in a time frame I could relate to. And I made some cool friends not just in class but also throughout the college. I had a blast at Pixel Blue and have never regretted jumping on my whim to bring music back into my life. Thank you, Curtis, for bringing sarcastic humor to my days. Thank you Umesh, for saving a high negative IT nerd from certain middle-management doom. "
